- ring resizing
- chain and clasp repair
- cleaning and polishing
- Rhodium plating and re-plating
- stone replacement and stone setting
- soldering and restoration
- inspection and maintenance

All services are subject to item condition, material suitability, and workshop assessment.
3. Estimates and Quotations
Any estimate provided before physical inspection is provisional. Final pricing may change once the item has been examined in person.
Where additional faults, hidden damage, weakened settings, worn claws, cracked stones, or material issues are discovered during inspection or repair, QJR may pause work and contact the customer for approval before proceeding.
Quotes remain valid for [14] days unless stated otherwise.
4. Approval to Proceed
No repair work will begin until the customer has approved the quoted work, whether verbally, in writing, by email, by message, or by accepting the quote through our website or booking system.
Where the customer requests additional work after the original quote, revised charges may apply.
5. Deposits and Payment
A deposit may be required before work begins, especially for higher-value repairs, special-order parts, stone sourcing, bespoke materials, or extensive restoration. Unless otherwise agreed:
- Deposits are non-refundable once materials have been ordered or work has started
- Full payment is due on completion and before collection or dispatch
- Ownership of any supplied replacement parts or finished, repaired items remains with QJR until full payment has been received
QJR reserves the right to refuse release of any item until outstanding balances are paid in full.
6. Customer Responsibility and Item Information
The customer is responsible for providing accurate information about the item, including:
- metal type, if known
- stone type, if known
- previous repairs or alterations
- any known weaknesses, sentimental importance, or special handling concerns
QJR is entitled to rely on the information provided by the customer. Where information later proves incorrect or incomplete, turnaround times, pricing, or suitability for repair may be affected.
7. Pre-Existing Condition and Repair Risk
Jewelry repair involves working with items that may already be old, worn, fragile, damaged, thin, cracked, bent, or previously repaired. Some items carry an inherent risk during repair, especially where settings are weak, metals are brittle, chains are heavily worn, or stones are chipped, fractured, treated, or delicate.
By authorizing repair, the customer acknowledges and accepts that:
- Some repairs may reveal hidden weaknesses not visible at intake
- Certain stones, especially soft, included, treated, antique, or heat-sensitive stones, may be vulnerable during normal repair processes
- Older, delicate, hollow, plated, or heavily worn items may not withstand repair as expected
- Exact color matching, finish matching, solder line invisibility, and like-new restoration cannot always be guaranteed
QJR will take reasonable care and use professional skill, but cannot guarantee that every repair can be completed without risk where the item’s condition makes it inherently vulnerable.
8. Stone Loss, Fragility, and Matching
Where a stone is loose, missing, chipped, cracked, heavily worn, or already insecure, QJR will advise where possible. If replacement stones are required, QJR will use reasonable efforts to source a suitable match, but exact matches in color, cut, clarity, size, age, or origin cannot be guaranteed.
For customer-supplied stones, QJR accepts no responsibility for undisclosed treatments, structural weaknesses, or suitability for setting.
9. Hallmarks, Finish, and Appearance
Certain repairs may affect the appearance of jewelry, including finish, polish, patina, plating, engraving sharpness, solder marks, or the visibility of previous wear.
Where legally required or practically necessary, repaired items may need to be submitted for hallmarking or re-hallmarking at additional cost and with additional time.
10. Turnaround Times
Any completion date given is an estimate only. Turnaround times may vary depending on workload, supplier delays, complexity of repair, stone availability, hallmarking requirements, or hidden issues discovered during work.
QJR is not liable for indirect loss caused by delay where the delay is outside reasonable control.
11. Collection and Delivery
Customers must inspect items on collection where possible and raise any obvious concerns promptly.
Where items are returned by post or courier:
- Delivery times are estimates only
- Risk in transit passes according to the delivery service terms, unless otherwise agreed
- Customers must ensure the delivery address provided is correct
- QJR is not responsible for delays caused by postal or courier services outside its control
12. Uncollected Items
Completed items must be collected within [90 days] of notification that the work is finished unless otherwise agreed in writing.
QJR reserves the right, after reasonable attempts to contact the customer, to charge storage fees of £[amount] per week/month for items left beyond this period.
If an item remains uncollected for [6 to 12 months] and payment remains outstanding or no response is received after repeated notice, QJR reserves the right, where permitted by law, to sell the item to recover repair, storage, administrative, and sale-related costs. Any remaining balance, if applicable, will be handled in accordance with applicable law.
13. Cancellations
If the customer cancels before work begins, any deposit may be refunded less any reasonable administrative costs already incurred.
If the customer cancels after work has started or after materials have been ordered, QJR may retain or charge an amount that reflects the work completed, time spent, materials ordered, and other losses directly resulting from cancellation.
14. Returns and Complaints
Because repair services are tailored to the customer’s specific item, returns are not accepted in the same way as standard retail goods. However, if the customer believes the repair has not been carried out with reasonable care and skill, QJR should be contacted within [7] days of collection or receipt.
Complaints should be sent to:
- Email: [Insert Email]
- Phone: [Insert Phone]
QJR will review the concern and, where appropriate, may offer inspection, correction, partial refund, or another reasonable remedy.
15. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any rights the customer has under consumer law.
Subject to the above:
- QJR is not liable for loss arising from pre-existing faults, hidden weaknesses, or fragile conditions not reasonably discoverable before work
- QJR is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, including emotional or sentimental value
- where QJR is proven liable for loss or damage, liability will be limited to the lower of:
- the fair market repair/replacement value of the item at the time it was entrusted to QJR, or
- the amount supported by the Company’s insurer, where applicable
Customers are strongly advised not to leave items of exceptional sentimental, historic, or uninsured value without first notifying QJR in writing.
16. Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, logos, branding, graphics, and photographs, belongs to QJR or is used under license. It may not be copied, reproduced, or used without written permission.
17. Website Use
The website must not be used unlawfully, to interfere with its operation, or to submit false, misleading, or harmful content.
QJR may update, suspend, or withdraw any part of the website without notice.
18. Privacy
Personal information is handled in accordance with the QJR Privacy Policy below.
19. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer law requires otherwise.
